Steve Allen Shard, AIBD.
Steve Allen Shard has been designing homes since 1973, including new homes, remodeling and additions for existing homes, historic and insurance restorations. His experience includes single-family homes, duplexes, townhouses, apartment complexes and condo-miniums. Steve is also experienced in community planning and specializes in Universal Design for Barrier-Free Living. He has won design awards in universal design for new and remodeled homes.
Steve is a strong advocate for sustainable design (green building), energy efficiency, recycling, historic preservation and conservation.
Steve was educated in classical and traditional design by the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICAA).
Steve joined the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) in 1984 as a charter member of the Florida Society and has served on the state's executive committee and board of directors. He has also served on the national board of directors.
Steve was certified to design residential structures by the National Council of Building Design Certification (NCBDC) in 1987.
Other professional affiliations include the Congress of Residential Architecture (CORA) and the National Trust for Historic Preser-vation (NTHP).
